When we say "Big-Band" we normally think of a Jools Holland style group or perhaps Glenn Miller. A full big-band was traditionally some 16 or 17 instruments plus vocalist(s).

I ran a band like this until about ten years ago when I chopped it back to be more manageable and affordable. Plus, wonderful though the full orchestra is, how many people really want such a large group, even if they can afford it?!

Fortunately I anticipated this change when I was writing the musical arrangements for the band. This means that although we are only half the size of the traditional big-band, it still sounds full and like a band. So you get the best of both worlds - a full band sound, at half the cost. It also takes up half the room making it practical for a much greater range of venues.
